Las Humanas, a community forestry cooperative, monitors the
social and ecological effects of forest restoration work in
the Manzano Mountains of New Mexico.

San Luis Valley Ecosystem Council
The San Luis Valley Ecosystem Council, in Alamosa, Colorado,
is collaborating with the Forest Service to better understand
and evaluate salvage logging practices in national forests following
wildfire.

Escalante Center
The Escalante Center, in partnership with Utah Forest Products
- a small mill in Escalante, Utah - wants to determine the economic
feasibility of processing small diameter material using a portable
mill.

Tesuque
Pueblo / Four Corners Institute
In a joint research effort between the Research Center, the
Four Corners Institute, and Tesuque Pueblo, this project will
integrate "scientific" and "traditional" knowledge regarding
the cottonwood bosque on the Pueblo. Project partners will then
incorporate this knowledge into bosque restoration that will
be ecologically sound and culturally appropriate.
